RCBS Chargemaster

Ok cool. Thanks. I’ll have to try one out and see the difference. I’ve been running my chargemaster about ten yrs now an I’ve noticed it definitely seems to work better the longer it’s been on and running. I’ll often turn it on calibrate etc in the am and load in the evening. Might be pointless but it’s kinda a habit I’ve gotten into.

I might have to pick up one of these UPS units. Does a guy need to get one of the more expensive models Or are the cheaper ones serviceable for running a chargemaster?

I am using a 10 year old UPS from APC. Turns out that the batteries for the units, when they go are expensive, so quite a few businesses take the opportunity to upgrade their UPS.

A car or ATV battery hooked up will work fine as the load since the APC only trickle charges when online.

Read the fine print on the manual it will say 1 year warranty. They offered to fix it but when I crunched the numbers it was more than buying new. Shipping both ways was the killer. I should have bought a new one right then. But I was playing email tag with Hirsch Precision that had one listed on their website for $349. Started in October and when they finally said it was unavailable in February and to get it from Natchez our dollar had dropped to 70 cent US.
So I wait for our dollar to lift and then will buy another from Natchez.
Average dispensing time is less than 30 seconds for a 60-grain extruded powder charge. It carries a one-year limited warranty. Note: Do NOT use with black powder.

Tried the Lyman Gen 6 and was not impressed. After a while it would refuse to throw powder and would have to be completely reset. Couldn't even get through 100 rounds before it would quit for the day. Lyman replaced it, but I sold it and moved on to a RCBS chargemaster, buy once cry once and I haven't looked back since.
