RCBS hand primer

Ahhhh.... it was ALL my fault. Lets just say brawn over powered brains here. lol

WHat started it was I used the primer tool on the press to see what it would do. When finished a couple primers I noticed that the primers werent in the case as far as with the hand priming tool. Not very much at all of a difference but some for sure. That got me back looking at the hand tool and found out the I wasnt suppose to squeeze the handle all the way closed. I thought I read that in the manual somewhere that I had to squeeze it till it bottomed out. Went back and looked at it and it never said such a thing. So theres nothing wrong with this hand priming tool, it was just me being stupid and not knowing how to use it properly.

I still think It doesnt take any more force to squish them in there just that little bit more.

I took a pic of the two. The one on the right is the old one and the one on the left is the new one

Yeah I dont know where I got that I had to squeeze it till the handle bottomed out/stopped. I did a few onece fired cases that I havent touched yet to see if theres any problems as HTH said he go a few failed to fires

thanks for your help Kryogen

A few is putting it lightly. Until I started bottoming it out I was getting around 80% ftf. Some would fire on the 5th time hitting the primer most would not

Seating primers requires that they are set deep enough to fully push the anvil within the primer cup into firm contact with the primer material and cup without mangling the primer. This "sets" the primer for proper function. If not set deep enough multiple strikes firing pin strikes may be required to first "set" the primer and then ignite the priming compound.

Hey guys thanks for the comments

I do think that they are seating all the way. I think I was crushing them a bit before. Ill be going out shooting tomorrow or the next day, so Ill find out for sure then. :)
