Rcbs lube die

I have one and think its a waste of time.
I use Dillon spray lube.
I lay 150 or so cases on a cookie sheet and give them a couple of sprays.
I then roll them around for a few seconds and give a couple more sprays.

I use a case feeder and the Dillon RT 1200 trimmer and this method works great.
 
Anyone here use one for .223 or other?

I just recently got one for .223 it works really well once you get it setup. The reason I went to it was its way faster then lubing them by hand and you don't get any lube on your hands.

The one trick I found was the first time you set it up, it has to sit a long time for the lube to completely saturate the felt. The manual says 1/2 hour but it took closer to 2 hours before mine was go to go.

I would defiantly recommend one if your running a progressive.
 
I have several lube dies, they worked great to start with, but they don't seem to keep working. I found it was easier to go to spray lube ahead of time.

If you used them with only one cartridge that might help, but I found they overlubed on the shoulder often, then would dry up quickly. Maybe if you changed out the felts often would help.
 
If you are loading in volume on a progressive, it keeps the lube out of the case collator / feeder, worth doing, and saves some time as well.

If you are doing a few (even a few hundred) on a single stage, I'd just use spray lube.

If you do want one for a progressive, you can build an external reservoir that will keep it topped up for your entire session - no more stopping every hundred or so, and more even application of the lube as a result:

acrashb That looks really awesome! Is that a 1/4" needle valve? and where did you get it? Also did you make or buy the brass clamping piece?
"saddle clamp", which comes with the needle valve and is found in the plumbing section at Home Depot. The other parts are from the plumbing section as well. The "reservoir" is just a 1/8" to "big" (don't remember) adapter.

The lube needs to be warm to flow (the viscosity is quite high when cool), but once the line fills up and the air is out, it works well, and getting the air out is a one-time thing.

The only thing I "made" is the bolts - cut them to length with a Dremel.
