I just picked up a RCBS powder measure, and from doing a bit of reading online before it seems like some measures are finicky with the types of powder they use (stick, ball, etc) Just wondering if anyone has come across certain types of powder that won't measure consistently with there RCBS? Any that work better then others? Thanks

I think like most others it doesn't handle the stick powders as well as the ball powders. Every once in a while when metering stick powders (H4831) I would catch a stick and cut it off. The small jerking motion this would cause seemed to throw that measurement off. I always ended up trickling on the scale so accuracy didn't really matter. I now bought a chargemaster and found my RCBS powder measure to work very well as paper weight. However most ball powders ran through very well and quite accurate.

What g-manz35 Is about the same as my opinion. I have a Ohaus which are the same thing and stick powders will cause more problems than a ball powder, use a consistent motion and if you feel the handle grab or stick throw that one back in the hopper. I run a lot of H322 through my measure and it is very accurate as is H870, H4831 and H4895 can be measured accurately but consistency is the key to operating the handle. Got a chargemaster for xmas so will be useing that more than the ol' Ohaus.
Yes. This is good advice. I always used the same sequence. Lift handle up slowly....tap tap. Drop handle down.... tap tap. By tapping on the end of the stroke it seemed to compact the powder equally every time and by tapping on the bottom of the stroke it would clean out the hopper. And yes if you cut a grain of powder and cause that jerking motion just dump it back in and continue on. Up, tap, tap down, tap, tap, dump, Repeat.
