So having finally gotten around to wanting to swage the primer pockets of some LC 5.56 brass using an RCBS swager and my Lee turret press, I have discovered a couple of things.
First it is necessary to remove the plastic clamp thing that holds the indexing insert.
Second, the cup that's supposed to push the swaged case off the die on the down stroke is the same diameter as the press ram so it does nothing. And wiggling the cases off gets old fast
But, by placing a 7/8" SAE flat washer on the ram and then installing the push off cup, it now works peachy. The washer is lifted by the cast boss that moves the priming lever just enough to lift the cup and push the swaged case off. And the washer has a small enough OD to clear the right front rod that holds the press together.
The swager seems to remove the primer pocket crimping without any changes to the pocket itself and new primers seat easily yet firmly. And now it is so much faster to use.
