Just recieved my Quigley in cal. .45-120. I have a pair of RCBS RC's on my bench and I'm having to unscrew the seat/crimp die to seat the bullet. The dies are RCBS "Legacy" 3 die set.
The empty case measures 3.250" and the bullet (530 Grs) is 1.250" That's 4.5" to get into the shell holder and into the die. Does anyone know of a "O" style press with more than 4.5" of throat opening? Backing the die off a few threads is a PITA!
Thanks for your thoughts,
Mike

Is there enough room to hold the bullet up inside the die while you slip a shell in beneath it? My Big Boss II only has 3.9" of clearance.

On the advice from my gunsmith/dealer years ago, my 1st and only SS press purchase was the Ultramag by Redding. I've used it for loading .338 LM; 300 WM; making 9 x 57 out of 8 x 57, and have installed Hornady's L&L bushing kit on it (a quickly reversible process) for most common uses. The L&L system makes it fast as a turret to use. I love the thing.

With so many satisfied RCBS users on CGN, Redding rarely gets mentioned. They make a product that is second to none in quality and have a lifetime warranty. Check out the Ultramag.

My RCBS RC, measured from the shell holder, where the case slides in, to the bottom of the die, with the die properly adjusted, measures 3.5"
I can hold the bullet up in the die, then insert the case in the shell holder, and seat the bullet that way. I may look at a Lee Classic Cast. I have 3 SS and 1 progessive press on the bench now, so I don't want to spend big money for a Redding or a CH4D at this time.
Thanks for all your comments.
Mike
