Hey guys
My rcbs tumbler malfunctioned the other day and I'm looking for some options to either fix or replace it. I contacted rcbs who said that they would replace it free of charge as long as I can find the receipt and it's less than two years old. Unfortunately the guy I bought it off on cgn hasn't replied to my message yet and by the looks of the tumbler it is over two years old.

The motor is fine in the unit. The steel shaft/rod that runs down the centre of the unit sheared off. Everything else is in fine working order.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or if I could rig something else up around the motor since that works fine?

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks
Ben

Sounds like you need a new shaft, Can RCBS supply or sell you a new shaft? Maybe they can tell you where to buy a new shaft.

Most Canadian Tire carry threaded rod. Bring the fixing nut to get the correct size. You could mic/caliper the rod to get the size as well.

Pictures of the shear?
Likely 1/4-20 shaft.

Was thinking the same thing.

See if you can take the unit apart and get the shaft parts out without destroying anything. Then go to Home Despot or Cajun Tire and see if you can replace the shaft with some common threaded rod or perhaps with a suitably long bolt with the head removed.

Just checked my Lyman 1200 and its shaft is 1/4" x 20 TPI.
