Hey all, I bought a vibratory case cleaner at a local gun show this weekend. I was told it works, but not really. The motor turns on and spins, but the motor output shaft has only the fan on it. I assume there should be some sort of "cam" on it to create the vibration. I called RCBS and they're sending me a new part but I'm a man of little patience and I own a machine shop. All I need now is a fellow nutter to send me pics and some rough sizes for the "cam". Would anyone be willing to pull the screen of the bottom of their cleaner for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Not asking anyone to dismantle their cleaner. Mine has 3 screws that hold a screen on the bottom, it came off in about 30 seconds. From there a couple of pics and quick tape measurements is all I would need. Any helpful post would be appreciated, otherwise don't waste your time and mine.

On mine the is just a flat weight with a set screw in it. The set screw tightens down on to a flat on the shaft. This creates the unbalance as the shaft rotates and that is what causes the vibration. I think you could recreate this with any bolt or like weight attached to the shaft with a set screw.

I would say a few ounces. If you use a bolt you can add nuts till you get the desired amount of vibration. I would post a pic but my tumbler died and I switched to stainless steel pins.
The old one is packed away somewhere .

Tictac: thanks again, I may give that a try.

Kryogen: quit posting telling me how you aren't going to help! This site is for shooters to share info and knowledge, if you have nothing to contribute, don't post!

Still no replacement part from RCBS. I made one weight and tried it out, it looked like it was good they way the brass was circulating but after 4 hours they were only slightly cleaner than when I started. I'm going to make another larger weight and try again this weekend. Fingers crossed!

So, last Saturday I was about to head into the shop to try making another counterbalance when my wife tells me there's a package in her van for me. I was confused when I grabbed the box and it weighed a couple pounds, I really didn't know what it could be if it wasn't the small counterbalance I was waiting for. So out comes the knife!

A whole new motor assembly for free! Awesome! I figured I would just take the counterbalance from the new motor and put it on the old one and keep running, but it didn't fit.

So I swapped the motors and now it works like a dream!

These last images are in case anyone has the same problem I did to begin with. There should be a piece of 1/4"x1"x1.5" counterbalance under the fan. Cut a piece that size, add a hole for your motor shaft (about 3/8" in from the end) add a set screw, and your good to go! Hope this helps someone.
