I use a RCBS Chargemaster Dispenser/Scale combo right now for all my reloading.

I've used it for about two years and found it to be very nice but I have nothing to compare it to.

I have to give it back to a friend soon and I'm looking to either buy another RCBS or try the Lyman 1200 DPS 3 or Hornady Lock-N-Load Auto Charge.

I'm not looking for people to tell me that they LIKE their scale, but have some comparisons of what is good and bad from each and why. Real life experience is always the best. Price is a mute point on my choice.

Eg. The RCBS I find doesn't like the cold. I always have to heat up the shop before I reload. This is the only negative I can think of with the RCBS.

I had the new model DPS, loaded with it for a couple of months and sold it. I had an RCBS before that, also sold it. Found a powder thrower way faster and more accurate, even when triclkling up large charges for 7 RUM. Only ones the auto dispensers were competitive on were large charges of big kernel powder like 4831.

No experience with the Hornady Lock and Load but don't intend to try any more auto dispensers. Let us know how it works if you try it. If money is no object, check out the prometheus units.

Dean,

Thanks for the reply. I was checking out the Prometheus scales on youtube and they are sick. They make the RCBS look like a Savage... I sure couldn't find the web site but maybe I gotta try harder.

Does anyone sell them in Canada?

Someone in Canda that sells them, not that I know of , but they are NOT on the restricted list and you can order one direct from the maker. The two I have seen in Canada were odered and delivered by US postal service. Shipping wasn't all that bad. If you need contact info cause you want to order, I can probably dig it up, just let me know you are REALLY interested cause I have to dig through a fair amount of stuff to find it.

Dean,

I have found an email address only for the Prometheus. I have sent a message and will be wating for more info.

Thanks you for the offer on digging up your info, I may still need that but I'll let you know.

I have the Lyman and its been working very well for me for a few years.
Please give us some more details on this Prometheus. Is it a dispenser or just a scale? I am always looking for better equipment.

Edit, found some articles and a link on 6mmbr

About $1200 USD from what I am seeing:confused:. Holy fartcake batman:p

I did say, "Money no object". Shooting is one sport where you really do get what you pay for. In most things, first class only costs 10% more, in shooting, 100 to 200 % more. You have to judge if the extra cost is worth it. Most of the time, I believe it is.:yingyang:
