First off, I've been reloading for more than 30 years, so something big was about to happen at some time
...............
I started out with a pair of RCBS dies for my 9mm, I'd used them for over a year for 3 different guns, then one day I was resizing/decapping some cases, not paying too much attention, felt some tension, and heard a crack. I found out when I pulled the case out that I had hit a berdan case, broken the pin, and bent the rod.
I was thinking about calling RCBS for some replacements on my dime, but I just happened to be in Bass Pro that day......there where a pair of Lyman dies sitting there, and I bought them.
I happily sized cases with my new Lyman dies for a couple of months then all of a sudden the same thing happened! By fluke the case that I was sizing still had a pebble in it, right over the flash hole, even after tumbling the cases!!!@@@%%$^
I now have 2 dies to repair. I called up RCBS, and was totally honest as to what happened. "Not a problem sir, we'll send a new one in the mail. "
I contacted Lyman, which in itself took 2 tries. "We sell the parts on our site, buy them." The die that I bought didn't have the removable pin, so I had to buy an entire rod assembly with a removable pin, and a pack of pins!
Who do you think I'm going to buy my next set of dies from?
