RCMP antique letter question

I'm wondering if there is an average amount of time it takes to get an antique classification letter for a handgun. I'm looking at an antique revolver to buy in the U.S. and would like some idea of the time frame to expect.

Normally they can e-mail it to you within a few days.

if you call in you will get it in 10-12 days

What they said^^. Depends how much research the techs have to do and how heavy their workload is.

if all your research checks out shouldnt take to long. I believe they only do up letters on fridays.

I now recall being specifically asked if I needed the letter to import the antique. I did and I think they may rush letters where you need it very soon for that purpose.

if you phone and get to the techs answering machine it could take 6 months (quoted by a tech when i did talk to them).Graham

I never had or got one when I bought a Springfield Trapdoor about four years ago. Should an antique have a letter? Or does it matter?
