rcmp centennial prices

I have a chance at buying a model 94 1873-1973 30-30 rifle.The rifle was purchased in 73 and has never been fired and is still in original box. Gold plated receiver and in mint shape. the old guy wants 600 for it. is the rifle worth more and is it a good price for something that will just sit in the gun cabinet. help would be greatly appreciated
