Just a value question. I don't deal in the commemoratives, don't really follow them. Friend has an MP serialized gun with box, sleave (ends bit rough apparently), ever thing that came with it and unfired. What are they selling for these days, a grand, give or take? Seen them advertised in here now and again, but never really took a look. Thanks.

I will to check when I get home but from memory the first 3000 have a bit more value, serial number start with MP and were offered to members and retired members of the RCMP. Then they made around 10'000 more for the general public with the prefix RCMP. I recall that the MP ones brought more $$.

A lot of members here won't put money on a commemorative, I have 5 or 6 mint with original bill of sale and I like them.

I guess between $800 and $1100 would be fair price for the MP model but you will probably get answers from $600 to $800.

My Grandfather in-law had one of the first 500 it was never fired or even out of the box for more than 20 times ever... When he passed away my father in-law sod it for 200.00 a case of beer. My wife still gets angry when she thinks about that rife.

I believe the original offerings of commemorative rifles, members only could have their regimental number stamped into them..then the rest of them were offered to the public

I remember walking into a Canadian tire with my father and buying one for what I recall was $161 at the time..no fac, no pal,,

Those were the days!

Thanks for the replies folks. Better get off here for now and back to the Christmas stuff!!!

I've seen lots of the MP versions sell for $1000-$1500 so long as they have the box and papers. Some guys will pay a fortune for the damned things. It makes no sense to me but I wish I had a dozen or so of them to flog.

.... Quite correct. Members could have their Regimental Number engraved/stamped on them, at no extra charge. 'Not sure if it applied to Retired Members though, but probably was. Also, probably, available through "Pay Role Deduction". ..... David K

Thanks for the great info. It was his fathers gun, his father was a member. He asked me for an idea of value, so trying to get that for him here? Imagine he will likely sell at some point, but not there quite yet.
Tks!
Matt

...Over the years, there have been, some serialized with the Members Regimental Number, Commemorative Swords ( made by Wilkinson? ) Bowie Knives, and of course, Limited Issue Prints. ....David K
