The RCMPs that patrols the streets are victims like the gun owners.

They're not saying they just became illegal , they're saying they became illegal when the charger was conceived . And they are now deciding to enforce that..How's that for FUBAR...
As a Canadian gun owner I believe we potentially have a larger issue here than the 10-22 mags. At present we seem to have been set upon by a bureaucrat in the firearms office with an approach which is beyond what the CFR has previously administered. There is a lot of good information on this issue on the CALIBRE Magazine site. The reference "10-22 platform" has been brought in to their references. Where we are at is that a rifle magazine allows a pistol(?) to exceed it's 10 round limit*. If this goes through, what might happen where a pistol magazine allows a rifle (AR platform) to exceed 5 rounds? Might there be a reversal in how the Lar15 is looked at? IMHO the 10-22 is a trial ballon.
Personally I think that to impact 100s of thousands of .22 magazine owners which I think probably only have a plinking rifle and most likely not even a restricted firearm, because a very limited number(less than 500?) of Chargers is beyond stupid.
*We already can exceed 10 rounds via magazine substitution. Will this also get prohibited?
Will we have to pin .22 tube magazines to 10?
I think that not all the RCMP are to blame. The officers in the field probably don't share the same opinions as the CFP techs. They have a job and a Boss like most other people. I don't think it's right to lump them all together. Just my opinion though.
I have heard several theories regarding this whole 10/22 magazine idea. Everything from 'testing the waters', to they intend to loose this 10/22 magazine issue in court to justify to the Minister of Public safety for a re-write of the magazine laws. or to get the term 'Dual-use' written into the laws as well. The 'Dual-use' terms scares me the most, I could see it applying to LAR pistol mags, XCR pistol mags and most worryingly being applied to pistol mags from Glock, Beretta, S&W and others due to the fact they fit in the many different pistol calibre carbines available.
Thousands of these mags imported into the country and sold and now they mention they are illegal.
The logic used to came up with this mag ban escapes me.
Might as well make turbo chargers on vehicles illegal since many people have died as a result of being hit with a vehicle that had a turbo in it. The logic used to came up with this mag ban escapes me.
It's a disarmament agenda, plain & simple. Over time they will chip away at our freedoms & the next thing you know you'll turn around & no law abiding citizen will be in possession of firearms.
Sad state of affairs if you ask me.

Just checked Regulations Prescribing Certain Firearms and Other Weapons, Components and Parts of Weapons, Accessories, Cartridge Magazines, Ammunition and Projectiles as Prohibited, Restricted or Non-Restricted (SOR/98-462)
Were still good for at least another 2 weeks. That's how often they update the regulations. Those are official and usable in court. if anyone has an issue get your lawyer to sate time stamp the regulations. Funny how all rimfire cartridges do not apply. be curious if any case law surrounding rimfire mag limits exist.
