No but every RCMP lee-enfeild is a longbranch. Like the link above says longbranch only made 1020 for the RCMP from 1947-66.

The guns were not manufactured for the RCMP.

Most of the MP marked guns are post-war CAL FTRs - ie) Parkerized and missmatched parts manufacturers with no markings to indicate FTR.

By the known serial numbers action dates run from early 1942 (possibly some late 1941 but none have ever been reported to my knowledge) thru late 1945.

I've had @6-7 pass through my hands- a couple target rifles, a DCRA 7.62 and several as issued...

they look like irish contract No4 Mk2's ....very light wood ,brass butt plates ,very shiney rear sights .Id like to see one of those rifles up close

They also had (a LOOOOONG time ago) Enfield revolvers and LEE-ENFIELD Cavalry Carbines.

All were properly marked and serials are known.

My Carbine has M&D markings, RNWMP roundel on the butt, 1896 date, properly-swept Bolt-handle, original 6-round mag and a nice low serial number: 45.

Pretty hard to mistake it for anything else.

I sold one here. Lou sold one here. I don't remember any great rush for it when I sold mine. Price was $750. and it was a mint 1942 22L rifle.

Same old story, when a few people start talking about it suddenly everyone wants one?

I've had 3 of the MP marked Enfields. The last one I had, plus others I've seen, did not appear in the lists in Arms and Accoutrements, or the list for Lever Arms. But I'm pretty sure it was real anyway.

.... In BC at least, the "Ceremonial Troop" has, and uses,( Drill and Parade purposes only ) the No.4. I'm NOT sure where they got them from, probably a case of either buying them privately, or rifles were ones that were turned in. As the "Ceremonial Troop", and it's Parade, and Public Relations functions as an organized and dedicated group, came into being, well after the Lee Enfields had been taken out of Service and sold off. .... A neat photo of RCMP with the SMLE.

LOL - someone is having a hard time keeping up on the outer rank.

I have never seen an MP marked Enfield but I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one. I am sure there are some kept safe in the basement of the Heritage Center in Regina.

Thanks for all the pics.

Thank you for shedding some light on that photo! I wonder if the rifles would still pass through Depot in Regina from time to time, even thought they belong that Ceremonial Troop?

..... Probably not.( Not likely to be carried on the RCMP Inventory, simply Local Records ) It would not surprise me in the least, to learn they were deactivated, even if only to a slight degree. ...... Equitation Training was dropped from the Depot Curriculum, around 1967, and I would think, Drill involving Rifles about the same time, if not earlier. ... Davbid K
