RCMP serivce pistol?

With the RCMP logo on them, they would sell well in the US, just change that god awful trigger they have.

Speaking of which does anyone have a good picture of the gun and logo?
 
And the Sig P226 is still issued to those members who received one in previous service (ERT or dogs), prior to the general switch to the semi-auto.
 
From what I heard the 226 has been clutched out of the hands of most of the members that had them and they have been replaced with a matte black 59 series S&W.
 
Most P226's have been clutched, but not all.
Rumor has it that the ERT Teams will be going back to the P226 once again, probably in a DAK.

It's shown here with a 106mm BarSto custom Match Target barrel (for CPCA Duty Pistol matches) and the trigger is quite nice actually.

Very small batch made by S&W for RCMP... I'm told that a few made their way to some of their tactical people for evaluation/testing, but they never ordered them in quantity. I managed to get my hands on this one... it had only been test fired/demo'd.

You are correct Mark(except for 1 detail which I assume is correct based on my source). That being, the black 5946 with rail is made for the CHP(what I was told by the armorer that did the trials).

We got a few for testing against the 226R DAK.
The main difference between the one you have and the silver one the 'commoners' get :D, is the color obvioulsy, rail, and a much, much better trigger.

the trigger (from what I remember),.is not great,..but useable...You have to have a good clean trigger pull,..I think the weight would help stabilize it. IMagine that trigger in a very light polymer gun....your groups would open up a bit I would think.
 
Using one handicap(heavy gun) to compensate for another handicap(really bad trigger) is a pretty crappy way of doing business.

But of course it's a usable trigger, it's just not ideal. My best group at 25m is a little over an inch, with 3 of 5 rounds touching.
This was standing supported though, using a barricade as support

very exceptable:eek:...by any means.

I rarely shoot supported with handgun,...I would be lucky to do that with a SA .40...
 
The only time I shoot supported is dependent on the stage I'm shooting, so usually 25m and 50m.

Anything closer is pretty much all unsupported. And the only time I shoot that far is for annual qualification. Most of my teaching and training with pistol is closer.
