RDB with fake reverse can

Gentlemen,
How do your reverse cans hold on RDB? I have TNA like on the picture and having hard time to tighten it. It gets loose after 200 or so shots. I understand that crush washer is probably gone by now, but I don't think next one will hold. Is it possible to use lock nut in this configuration? Please share your experience on what you use and how you tighten them.

Does that thing direct the blast away from the shooter? Like straight downrange? Or is it just for coolness?

The one pictured has a linear compensator. They have some that have nothing and some that are a brake as well.

I used a new crush washer, some loctite, and a padded set of vice jaws to get it tight.
Seems to be holding after 500 rnds
