So I just got a Vortex Viper 6 MOA red dot along with my Walther PPQ Q5. As expected the dot looks like a hot mess due to my astigmatism. Then I got to thinking. Would something like the Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated which has the fiber optics in it have the same amount of bloom? Anyone here with the RMR and a case of astigmatism care to chime in?

The smallest dots at the highest intensity are the worst for me, particularly red ones. I run a dual illuminated 9MOA green dot RMR on my 590A1 now, and there is zero flare. If I can get my hands on a 12.9MOA green triangle RMR at some point I'd like to see if it's the same way. The triangle point would make for a nice precise POA for guns requiring more precise aiming.

I've had Aimpoints and have the same problem. The dot looks blown out. The smaller the dot, the worse it seems to be. The trick (for me) was to focus past the red dot and at the point of aim. In the end, I ditched it for an illuminated reticle.

So no issues with astigmatism with your RMR 9 MOA dot? Interesting. I'm going to have to find a retailer in Vancouver that carries these so I can have a look next time I'm down there. Thanks.
