RDS on Pistols

I don't have a huge amount of shooting experience but I do have 68 year old eyes. I just bought an FNP 45 Competition that comes pre milled for an RDS. The tactical is an identical model but comes with "tactical sights". I installed a Trijicon RMR 02 with an 8 MOA red dot. I've shot it several times with very good results notably in Steel Challenge events. I bought but haven't yet installed the "tactical sights" that will make my gun identical to the tactical model and so I will have the added benefit of co-witnessed iron and RD sights. To my way of thinking, nothing will be faster particularly if you have vision challenges. For what it's worth, the FNP 45 is a very good gun. It's fast to move around in the games and a very soft shooter.

^^Great post hercster. Do you have a photo of your new pistol?

Here we go.

For the most part, this is obviously not a carry pistol. It fits my medium hand very well. Although it looks big, the circumference of the grip is just .25 inches bigger than my 1911. The 1911 is a very good gun yet the FN is actually more comfortable to shoot and has a very respectable SA trigger.

Here is another option. Jpoint makes an adapter that just fits into the dovetail of your Glock or M&P.

the Trijicon RMR looks to be the win-win on suitable pistol platform ...

Im a Glock guy so I would need to mod an existing slide to seat the RDS ... I saw the JP set up but its still high and replaces .. not a co-witness set up. The set up with the irons as back up are a win-win ;) Looks like FN has really made some steps forward...

I looked closely at several of the better makes before selecting the RMR. Ruggedized is the key word in RMR. They are very noticeably better designed and constructed.
