Sorry for the dumb question:redface: But I'm a NOOB with my first "precision" rifle :D
I removed the stock from my rifle and want to know if there's a proper way to remount it.
Thanks

Since no one else has chimed in yet, let me answer your question.

You want to ensure that the bolts are tightened using a Torque-Wrench, to ensure that all the bolts are tightened to the same force... having one tighter than the other can result in non-uniform shifting of your barrel/action when shooting, and thus inconsistent points of impact.

If I remember correctly, the Savage F-Class team claims that 24 in-lb is the ideal starting point... shoot a group of 10 or more (rested) then put another couple in-lb on and shoot again - until you find the ideal torque setting for your setup.

Some say that 30-50 in-lb is ideal, and I have read everything up to the extreme of 87 in-lb, but I'd be weary of busting a nut at those forces.

24 ft-lb would be a 24 lb pull on a 1 ft. wrench handle. Seems a bit high.
Barrels might torque in with 60 ft-lbs.

haha, you're totally right, I meant in-lb (inch-pounds)... The last article I read said ft-lb, but that's obviously a mistake on their part. Original post updated to be less ridiculous.
