Howdy Folks: I have a vintage Marlin 1893 chambered in .25-36M. It needs a new barrel. I would like to keep it in .25-36M just because and also I have the dies, bullet and correct head stamped brass to reload for it. Looking for interested party or parties to do this. I am not looking for a restoration, just to get it up and running again. I know of several other people that are looking to do the same thing so there may be more then one to do. Some might be looking for just a sleeve and re-chamber.

I do not know of anyone in Canada that is offering installation of liners in anything bigger than rimfire calibers.
You may have to go to the States for such. Even there, pickings are pretty slim.
It'd be a darn great project for a DIY kind of guy, as the time to bore out the barrel and make up the liner from a barrel blank or salvaged barrel makes for a pretty big bill if the guy doing it is actually charging fair rates.

Track Of the Wolf in the States was selling liners in various calibers, by the inch. I think they stopped sending them across the Border. That may change again under the new(ish) changes to the US side Export Permits rules. Dunno yet.

Like as not, your best bet is to go on the hunt among as many used parts vendors as you can, for a decent matching barrel.
Next best, would be a rebore or a decent fitting barrel of another caliber.
Or find a decent quality barrel blank and have it fitted and chambered.

More info on this Marlin 1893 .25-36M. Because of the condition of this rifle, it appears a gunsmith in the making used the barrel to practise cutting and plugging dove tails There are 4 of them between the forearm cap and the muzzle. Plus the barrel has been cut back and re-crowned. I'll bet that has been done several times, the barrel is now about 19.5 inches. I will also bet that this rifle was chosen for this torture because the bore is a sewer pipe due to neglect likely after using black powder and corrosive primers. Shooting it at a LARGE sheet of paper looks more like a buck shot pattern from a scatter gun. So unless I want to turn it into a Maresleg, putting a liner in it or re-boring to a different chamber is not a viable option.

I'm not familiar with the 25-36M, tried to google it but came up pretty dry.

But you can get 25-20 barrel liners, and there is a supply of ammo out there now.

Howdy Paatz: The "M" stands for Marlin. It is a propriety cartridge designed by Marlin. And is very similar to the .25-35, so close that the load data is the same. Yes there are liners for the .25-20 out there. But there are two issues with that. There first being the twist rate of the .25-20 is for lighter, shorter bullet, so the normal heavier bullets of the .25-36M would not be stabilized. The other issue is as indicated in my own comment to this post, the barrel is too far gone to do that. This .25-36M is on the Marlin Model 1893 and the .25-20 is based on the Marlin Model 1894. The 93 is a long action receiver and the 94 is a short action receiver.

Howdy Neil: The two cartridges, the Winchester .25-35 and the Marlin .25-36M are very similar, so close that the same load data can be used. And it is fine to fire .25-25 ammo in a .25-26M rifle but do to the slightly longer case of the .25-36M, it can not be shot in the .25-25. I have had this bet up poor thing for about 8 years. In that time I have found the correct .25-36M dies and I have paid dearly for 50 rounds of brass with the correct head stamp. I also found a supply of cast bullets. So I have shot this thing but the barrel is such a sewer pipe and had been so badly butchered by a gun smith in the making practicing doing dove tails, it need a new barrel no matter what that is chambered for.
