Would that include all the 4 gun makers as I listed, metric threads?Probably gonna have to count out all the befuddled boomer smiths who can’t or won’t cut metric threads
I have one done in 280AI with a 24 “ Bench Mark - Had another done in 6.6x284 Norma But sold it .Has anyone re-barreled a 1900 action, from either a Husqvarna, Carl Gustaf, Viking or Antonio Zoli? Wanting to know results, good or bad. Would it be worth the cause? Thanks!
Thanks, Jim. You're Husky dosen't appear to be a 1900 action. What action was your 6.5x284? Thanks!Husky 280 AI .![]()
No SorryThanks, Jim. You're Husky dosen't appear to be a 1900 action. What action was your 6.5x284? Thanks!

Yeah, no one ever rebarreled a European gun before now. SMH. - danProbably gonna have to count out all the befuddled boomer smiths who can’t or won’t cut metric threads
Thanks for that information, quite the story as well!Yup, I've got a nice 308NM built on a 1900 Husky action. The original rifle was my mates 7mm mag and had taken a serious fall in tahr country. The stock was broken and the trigger guard cracked. Had the local gunsmith fit a 30 cal Truflite barrel, and fix the trigger guard. Then had it all ceracoated in matt black. Tracked down a very tidy original wooden stock for it and had it bedded in to the stock. Was able to pick up a fibreglass stock for it when I was guiding in Canada, swapped it in to that and fitted a VX5 in Burris rings. Shoots absolutely lights out! consistent 5 shot groups at 100 metres under .7moa. Longest shot to date was on a steel wallaby target at 710 metres. The 1900's are one fo the nicest actions to work with, and the triggers are fully adjustable and crisp.
Do you mean the inner or internal barrel torque shoulder when you mention integral recoil lug?Did the Swede Mauser conversion to 308 recently. Was a standard and easy project, very rewarding experience. Beauty of the integral recoil lug. Mauser actions are an amazing platform, but unfortunately the resell value of the custom projects is low - I'd only do it If I wanted to keep it
I only meant that recoil lug is integral with the receiver, there is no need to worry about indexing it like in Rem 700 or Savage, while torquing the barrelDo you mean the inner or internal barrel torque shoulder when you mention integral recoil lug?
As your pictured Swedish M96 action does not have a secondary bolt recoil lug. Nor do they have a inner torque shoulder.
Also many if not most models of bolt action receivers have recoil lugs.
What you thinking on buildingHas anyone re-barreled a 1900 action, from either a Husqvarna, Carl Gustaf, Viking or Antonio Zoli? Wanting to know results, good or bad. Would it be worth the cause? Thanks!
Brilliant response. I’ll forward it to Ralph Martini. Maybe he can have it transcribed onto a plaque as a not-so-subtle reminder of his, and his generation of gunsmiths’ failings.Probably gonna have to count out all the befuddled boomer smiths who can’t or won’t cut metric threads

You know, Jim I recently purchased a Viking 1900 Deluxe chambered in the 6.5x55 Swede and was beyond impressed with the quality of workmanship. No, I'm not going to rebarrel that rifle however, searching for another in the 30-06, which I located, just have to seal-a-deal with the vendor. What you thinking on building![]()
