re barreling a winchester m70 extreme weather to 375 H&H

Looking at rebarreling a M70 Extreme weather in 300 win to 375 H&H. I understand these new m70 have one piece bottom metal.... does anyone know how difficult it would be to modify the bottom metal and the bell and carlson stock to accept the longer H&H?

I don't think you have to modify the bottom metal just get a new box and follower.
I've got a .375 box I don't need but you would be better off if you can get a Winchester 4 shot or the Darcy Echols repro.
 
I've done a magnum-length conversion on a M70. New mag box and follower, (with my Classic) some judicious tweaking of the rear of the feed rails to allow the cases to fit tightly against the feed rails to ensure proper case retention and modification of the ejector to allow the case on the left side of the action to ride all the way up. It's not that difficult a conversion to do if you're reasonably mechanically inclined and patient. And, of course, you need to start with a magnum bolt face otherwise you'll have to have it opened up. That bit ain't DIY.
 
Full length box and follower are 40 bucks apiece and drop right in. Spacer can be pried out and stock follower can be tried if you want to do halfway measures. Bolt stop can be shortened easily, and the ejector changed or modified. So far so good. Next, its decision time. The .375 is built on the Express action with a longer ejection window. That doesn't mean it wont work; I've done it, but you have to decide whether you want it good enough or right.

My 3.85" 300WM loads feeds and elects out of a Classic action with no lengthening of the ejection window. But, as always, YMMV.
