I certainly do not expect it to remain zeroed. What I meant was adjusting the dial controls to centre before mounting the scope.
I don't know what resetting the adjustments to the mid-points of their adjustment ranges would accomplish.
Mount the scope, zero it, see if you have lots of left and right available, and how much elevation is to be had.
If there is an issue, you will have to look at shims, adjustable mounts, ring inserts, etc.
