I have been doing it for 19 years, from French Indian Wars to WW2, sometimes you even get to do a movie or two. This summer we did the CBC Great War documentary in St-Bruno, Québec.

I thought that project was cancelled? I had signed up for that then CBC went on strike and heard no more of it

It was a CBC project, but actually produced by GalaFilms and directed by Brian McKenna so the strike had no effect on it. GalaFilms selected 150 people out of 6,000 applications, so it was a roll of the dice to have been called up to serve.

Reenactor but currently unarmed

Greetings All! I'm a currently-kitting up Soon to be German WW2 Reenactor. But holy Iron Cross' Batman!, Am I frustrated. I possess a PAL for restricted and non restricted weapons. I'm trying to find a weapon my character can use, but Id rather not have a plain old Mauser 98K (Though can't find a German one Locally-Being in Victoria BC)
What I'd Like is A Mauser G-3 or an MP-44 thats been converted back to Restricted status. (No full auto). Or a Blank firing MP-40/MP-44, But I'm unsure if Blank firing ONLY weapons are Prohibited? I'd also accept dewat MP-40/44's if I could find one? Or the Japanese Build-em-yourseld steel model kits of the MP-40/44. Problem so far, is none of this stuff seems to exist on the West Coast? Any Re-enactors have this problem? Also, the Law seems a bit fuzzy to me anyway, about replica weapons. I'd even take an Airsoft MP-40/44 if I could find one, but I've had some police say they are now Prohibited, some say not. Legalese about this confuses me.
Well, if anyone can Assist with weapons/replicas/dewat/airsoft sources, I suuure would appreciate the help!! I'm also at jwja@telus.net. Cheers and HAppy New Year to All! Regards-Jamie

I've seen the airsoft replica's at a local gunshow. I think the price was $300 or so, and they sure looked real. I even handled the display MP40 and Thompson and it felt nice - like real. I'll see if I can find the number to the local guy who sells these.

still no cantacts here in nb...............perhaps hes been posted to aphganistan ? if anyone needs a ww2 helmet cover winter / splinter/or italian cam let me know /photos available.

No, we Germans would look kinda funny running around in that ;p The Canadians do though, I think it is better wearing that than original stuff as I don't think repro Canadian/British kit is very available, I could be wrong though but on the Korean part I know many wear it.

Satanist symbols make my skin crawl, to each his own. ;)

Read a book...The pentacle symbol is far older then Satanism, and was also adopted later as a (positive) christian symbol, later perverted by Hollywood...besides one has to believe in the mythos of the bible in order to be a Satanist.

Besides which many of our ancestors lay in French Fields because of men in German uniforms...not pentacles, but to each his own.

Lest we forget...:(

Lets not get off topic, was only making a wise crack to lighten up your post, I know it's not just Satanism but the witchcraft part made me wonder. I have relatives dead from both uniforms. The main goals of reenactors is to remember the loss of life from a war no one who faught it wanted and never want to see again. We do not take sides and the vets don't either, I've seen German and Canadian veterans crying with each other and have never heard either speak poorly of the other, I am fortunate enough to speak to hundreds of veterans a year. The Canadian veterans liberated Europe from the Nazis, and the German vets agree with that. A lot of them were just young kids drafted up told to defend their homes.

If you want to get into reenactment looking at it as a real war and taking sides you will find yourself very much alone. Many of us, inlcuding myself own uniforms from both sides and we appreciate what it took for people to put on a uniform and go and fight. Not trying to be a jerk, the internet is not good for reading emotions so maybe I'm misreading you too.

Nothing wrong with reenacting on the German side Calum. The avarage solider who is drafted in a war is told what to do and when your dealing with a goverment like the Nazi's had even if the solider didnt want to fight they knew that they'd be shot by their own side if they didnt. No need to blame the German soliders who faught but the blame is on their goverment and higher level German officers, the Gastapo etc who wanted the war instead. :)

Thanks for the answer DarExc, so I'm atleast partway to getting myself a kit. :) I should have a full kit by December I figure (mainly gonna be purchasing everything this fall). :)
