is there any truth to to find out who is next in line to have it transfered to,that the next number will be on the tag in brackets...
ive just heard this in a phone call...

FogDucker,

Yes when you transfer a tag they know who is to get it without even having to ask you by checking their computer. :)

To determine who the designated alternate validation tag
transfer recipient is for your group, look at the lower half
of your validation tag. Inside the brackets ({ }) it will
show the moose licence number of another Pool 1
member in your group. This moose licence number
belongs to your group’s designated alternate tag transfer
recipient selected randomly by the computer.

Also check this part of the Regulations out:

Most hunters who
have transferred tags to another group member will be placed
in Pool 1 in the following year’s draw. However, hunters who
have transferred validation tags in two consecutive seasons
will be placed in Pool 2 for the following year’s draw. This
means that if a hunter transferred a tag last year (2005), and if
successful this year (2006) wants to transfer again, he/she will
be placed in Pool 2 for the 2007 draw.

This is on Page 39 of the Regulations. :)

Hope this helps. :D

The license is in brackets. If there are 2 gents who can't/won't be hunting one could end up with the tag and the other could be the transfer, leaving the group with no tag. A good reason for everyone to hunt! PS, A single applicant cannot transfer his tag, only those who applied in a group.

yup. thats what we do, have 2 hunters applying in a group with one non-hunter( wife, or friend) if the guaranteed group size is 3, if its 4 have 3 hunters and one non hunter, that way you are guaranteed a tag every year and you will always have a hunter to have the tag tranfered to incase teh non hunter should get it....works slick:D

I heard of guys using a dead mans license... I think this is unethical... never mind illegal. Guy could turn into a Zombie.... show up at camp all maggoty and shyt... you know the rest....

And if you transfer a tag you cannot even show up to camp part way thru the week. Drew the tag one year, found out the better half was going to deliver our 3rd child while I would be gone so off to the ministry to transfer on medical reasons. You forfeit your licence for moose for that year.

you can be there but you cannot hunt moose but everything else that is open is fair game

why not?

its a perfectly legit reason to still hunt, think of how many guys have that happen.....

if you still have a seal in your pocket and a sticker on your card...your going hunting....for calfs definitly......

im also pretty sure you can hunt on the bull tag your transferee has as well.....if a C.O asks, say your hunting calfs........

Grouseman is right, in Ontario there is no regulation that prevents a hunter who has transferred a tag (to the alternate applicant) from hunting. He is able to party hunt with the rest of the group he applied with or any other group if he so chooses. You do not forfeit any tag or license whatsoever. You do not lose your right to hunt. The only way a hunter can transfer a tag AFTER the season opens is if the tag holder is medically unfit to participate in the hunt . The MNR will require a doctors certificate to prove this. Even then, there is no regulation that says you have to be sick for a required period of time.Lets say a fellow has chest pains and has to go in to checked out, if at the time of the hunt he is under a doctors care and can`t hunt he would be able to transfer the tag to the selected alternate.

well to let all know..... the reason i asked this...in our group there was two cancellations at last min...
but with all all the helpful info here...i found out im next in line for the tag:D ..it just would have been a sob if the guy that got the tag... got to tranfer it to another that cant make the trip..
