OK I wanna touch-up my McMillan A5, It's matte black now and has a few blemishes. I wanna just re-spray it with matte black, what kind of product should I use? Is an enamel based spray paint OK? If I use a spray paint will it come out looking ####ty or will it look the way it does now... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Krylon is usually the paint of choice for stock work. I would lightly sand what you have, to ensure a good bond, clean and degrease with alcahol, and paint it. Krylon also makes a clear coat that works a protective barrier, so you shouldn't have to re-do it anytime soon.

So what type of Krylon, I was looking at the Krylon® Industrial (5-Ball) Interior-Exterior Paint (acrylic lacquer formula) Says its good for any metal or wood. I ordered the ultra flat black... it's a premium paint. Is this a good way to go?

All I gotta say is you guys rock. I went to the local can tire and bought the krylon camo paint with the fusion technology. I lightly sanded the blemishes and shinny spots and wiped er' down with nail polish remover. I hung up in the garage and sprayed it.....

It looks amazing, waaay better then the original finish, I also painted the 3-way butt plates. (the chrome looks too flashy) she's just finishing drying I will post some pics tonight when I get it back together...

Thanks again,

One thing to watch out for with clear coating is that it will turn a yellowish color (on lighter surfaces) if you clear coat to much. I painted a stock white and went to town with matte clear coat and it turned the white a sort of a yellowish hue.

It can happen if put on too thick. How many coats did you throw on? I usually only spray 3 to 5 coats, depending on the base colour. The problem is that the sun will only make it worse, especialy on a white base. The darker the colour of the base, the harder the yellow hue is to see.

OK I'm done and satisfied. The paint job fixed the stock blemishes 100% it looks better then brand new. I don't think I'll have to clear coat the stock, just because the new paint was laid over the old paint, it looks and feels solid. That being said, I'm going to have to clear coat the metal 3-way. It came out OK but not perfect. I think I'll eventually redo the 3-way and use clear coat for the added strength. I defiantly like the way it looks as matte black as apposed to the chrome... Overall I'm a happy camper :)
