Re: Standard Arms Model G .30 Rem

:confused:can someone tell me something about this and what the diferance is between this and the modle-m is please

The Standard Catalog of Firearms says:

Standard Arms Co., Wilmington Delaware. Model G. Chambered in .25-35, .30-30, .25 Remington, .30 Remington and .35 Remington with a 22 inch barrel and open sights. Integral box magazine and closable gas port that allowed the rifle to be used as a slide action. Blued with a walnut stock. Produced in limited quantities. Circa 1910.

2003 U.S. value for one in very good condition was $750.

The book doesn't mention a Model M.

A Google search came up with a couple of hits including a Youtube video.

I did a google search and one of the hits was an ad saying that the model M was a slightly less expensive version of the model G. There was also one called a camp gun which in the discussion associated with the hit, a Standard Arms collector said was a model M. While most model Gs had a brass pump handle, it appears that there are also some with wooden pump handles

cheers mooncoon

Hi: The model M was pump action only while the G was semi auto and gas port could be closed as said and operated as a pump. This was a very hard to work action in pump mode as the recoil spring was heavy. The camp gun is very rare pump and real odd, it is a .50 cal smooth bore, I just sold a G in 35 rem that had belonged to my Uncle to canuck on here, contact him if you like, he collects them and has a more information on them. Here is a couple pics of my Uncles gun on an antelope hunt in the 40's just for fun, Cheers
