Well its come to this.....
I have had a bugger of a time finding Small Pistol primers...or they are asking $35 bucks per 100 YIKES, not kidding.
or by the time I see them advertised,....they are gone.

So,,,,I have a bunch of brass I cleaned and primed a couple years ago. Calibures I am not using any more.

So I am slowly and carefully taking the primers out and re using them in my 9mm casings.
It seems to be going fairly well. I DO have my safety goggles on ! I have had primers Blast off before.

any way,,,most seem to Press in alright into the new cases.
I have a failure rate of 3 "no goes" out of 50. they must be distorted just enough from them being pressed back in.

They seem to work. shot a hand full of rounds... primers stayed in.
I DONT recommend doing this ! But ya gotta find a way around these things nowadays.

I personally would not try this with a rifle round or magnum pistol.

wow....Im on it ! thanks

CRAP...out of stock

I was able to add them to cart but I didn't buy because after ship + tax for me in BC it is .11+ c a primer and I don't want to pay that price for cam pro, as I was able to find CCI/federal locally for around that price. htt ps://x-reload.com/cp-spistol.html

1k limit per customer per week by the way, or shipping might not be so bad.

Cam pros do all go bang for me, just harder to seat.

I've deprimed rifle cartridges and reused the primers with no issues many times, at today's primer prices it's pretty tempting to scavenge primers anyway a guy can.
Last summer I found a few 223 cartridges with light primer strikes on the ground at a gravel pit that someone discarded. I brought them home, pulled them down, scavenged the brass bullets and primers, all the primers still worked fine.

I did this with a few hundred 223 cases, primers all went into 357mag, 22 hornet, and 30 Carbine

I'm seeing some wtt post in EE looking to trade SRP for LRP it that's any help

I'm sitting on +2000 SRP and +2000 SPP myself that I think will be a lifetime supply when everything cool is banned... :(

I used to buy scrap ammo, I have reused tens of thousands of salvaged primers with many more still stored. My failure rate even from the most random of ammo is about 1:50 or more. What primers were you working with? Any chance you have a reduced power firing pin/striker spring installed?

I dont even remember what brand the primers were. some of the brass had primers already in them that I didnt install.

There have been many threads over many years on depriming live primers, but it's only in the last year that the concern wasn't safety, but if they could be re-used.

I've recycled rifle primers before

I've done it in the past too. As long as you're careful not to apply too much pressure with the decapping pin it's fine.

Primers here in the UK are getting ridiculous in price too. Six months ago they were something like £4.50/100. Now they're around £18, IF you can find any!!! We're being shafted

Been doing some research on making the compound h48, and reloading primers. Only issue is in the states you can get lab grade chemicals for fair prices up in Canada iv been quoted 175 for 10 grams. Mind the danger of it, I am aware, it's getting tempting.

I have pushed out and re-used many LR and LRM unfired primers.
Can only remember one that failed to go bang. However, I do not
use them in ammo I hunt with, just practice and "plinking" Dave

You should just get a Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Hand Deprimer Tool. These things let you remove primers without damaging them - so you can reseat them in another case. Handy and easy to use. A must-have, now that getting primers is a pain.
