Guys ....I know this topic as already a lot of mileage ...probably , but I am really considering antoher plateform, in the non restricted value,,and looking at both guns is making me notious....sure I would take em both,,,but that dosent go well with a pregnant boss at home:bigHug:

LAr Pistol mags don't make a 10 rounder in the 308win, ? so getting a 308 plateform with a legal 10 shot mag is ...not to be considered rigth?

basicaly is it was possible to get a 308 in a such plateform with the liberty of using AR type mags this would be my choice...

how about the MR1 , does it really take and function properly with 10 rds LAr mags?

Is the XCR really the best for your buck...

I really appreciate your opinions and knowledge in these type of platforms , thanks guys...

When i was down in Italy at the Benelli Armi factory, i had a chance of asking many questions an one answer i got is the big brother of the MR-1 lets call it the the MR-8 ( they did not give no denomination for it) is already on the testing row, got no eta or price just that they will have one out... JP.

If the MR1 had the option to install a buffer tube,AR stock and a muzzle brake I would definitely be interested...as it is now it would not work for me!

If the XCR-M comes out in a pistol config then your dreams will be fulfilled. At least the XCR-M has a chance of that however unlikely. The MR-8 does not exist in the market yet and will never be in a pistol format even if it did.

If you go with the XCR you will need shares @Loctite......

I kidd, mine was bought in early 2011 and is flawless in operation sans loctite. Only thing I changed was the bolt hold open device as it would not hold on the last round with pmags, the new one seemed to fix the issue.

I am unsure myself about the MR1 not keen on the stock seems like it has a idenity crissis looks like a shotgun. as for the xcr handled one looks more tactical but found it heavy compaired to MR1. tough choices guess depends on use and budget.

The weight question is an interesting one. The Xcr-l with 16inch barrel is 7.5lbs empty compared to the MR1 which is 7.9lbs. Now obviously the xcr-l NR is 18.5 inch heavy barrel. The MR1 is 20 inch pencil barrel.

I love the control interfaces on the XCR-L being a right handed shooter the charge handle on the left is great. The safety, bolt release/hold open, mag release can all be operated by the index finger without looking. I set safety on with my index and release with my thumb. The 30degree safety is a boon as well.

I have no input to make on the MR-1 ergonomics as I've never operated one. However, visually I can see it has a charge handle on the right that is not ideal as far as I'm concerned.

I agree with previous poster handle both. I never had any interest in the MR1 but I did handle an XCR-L before purchase.
