well its a question. what kind of reactive targets do you use.
hopefully some intresting stuff pops up that i havent thought of. i ask this because some one at the range was using paintballs at 25 yards with a .22 and a .223 pretty cool effect. biodegradable too so thats allways nice.

1" thick steel gongs for centrefires. Birchwood Casey steel targets for 22. Pieces of SKS ammo I find at the range..... Gophers.... deer..... small children.....
All react very well when shot.... minus the small children.

crackers work very well, come in all shapes and sizes, cheap, and walk away with a clear consciouce, all you are doing is feeding the birds. A 2x4 with a 1/8 groove cut in it makes a good holder.

Paintballs do sound interesting, going to have to try them.

I have a small steel plate about the size of a paperback. Works great as a target out to 300m. I also shoot bottles. I keep my yogurt containers (the 1L ones) and fill them with sand, they spray all over when hit. I bought one of those swingy orange plastic/rubber gophers, it's a fun target. You can hit them many times, they just close up around the bullet hole.

Haha crackers, that's a hell of an idea, I've thought of milk jugs filled with coloured water, just haven't done it yet, like to play with tannerite like they do down south

I like using balloons. You can make them different sizes for different ranges and they move in the breeze which make more of a challenge. Though you do have to pick up the scraps when you are done shooting. I'm not shooting out to 1000m yet, getting my feet wet so YMMV.
