(READ for SPEED updated) How long does a Restricted Transfer take in BC Currently?

did anyone call the cfo today and find out what day they are processing today

Didn't call today but I know that on Tuesday January 8th they had processed transfers submitted up to December 13th. Pretty good considering that on January 4th when I called they were only up to December 5th. Let's hope they keep up the pace and even pick it up a bit! If I get a chance I'll call tomorrow. Just a tip, I've had alot of luck calling right at 4pm, no being put on hold indefinitely like earlier in the day.

Is the STATT and LTATT a physical document? I applied by FAX and after 3 weeks the store I bought my handgun from has said I have approval. However I have nothing in the mail? I'll call the store to confirm details tomorrow I guess.

Whats the difference between the STATT and the LTATT? The gun store only made me complete one form for ATT. I see no separate form where I am.
I am in BC

I'm unsure how the STATT works document wise -- but my LTATT is a physical document, kinda -- They emailed it to me and I printed it. I had the option of getting it via email, fax or mail..
Its possible the retailer is the one who recieved the statt -- just call the firearms office, they can tell you whats up :) -- might not be able to actually _do_ anything, but they can let you know whats going on

LTATT is long term transport -- authorizing me to take my restricted between home and to the range for 5 years
statt is short term -- usually only once from the store to the house. If your getting your firearm shipped, you will need a STATT if you have to pick the firearm up at a canada post office because you missed them when they came to your door. If you meet them at your door - well then you're already home, so no STATT needed

aren't gun laws just great! :(

Yep, call the store, they may have gone ahead and applied for a STATT for you. As Zeer said that is the document that you will need to transport the gun from the store to your home, a one time only use.
If the store didn't apply you can just call the CFC and the extension of your province's CFO and ask them to issue a STATT. They will need your license number, the reference number for your transfer, the address of the store where your gun is and the day you plan on picking it up. They can email or fax the STATT to you right away, it is a physical document just like your LTATT and you must carry it with you when you take the gun from the store to your house by the most direct route.

BC CFO Address?

Hello All,

I am waiting for my RPAL to come through and when it does I want to get my LTATT as soon as possible. I've read in this thread that it's a good idea to go right to the BC CFO office (I live in BC) and apply in person. So that's what I plan to do, but I've discovered 2 different addresses for the BC CFO. Can someone tell me which one is correct?

#1
British Columbia
Chief Firearms Officer
British Columbia and Yukon
Unit 118-5477, 152 Street
Surrey, British Columbia
V3S 5A5
Fax: (604) 575-1241

I got this address from this website http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/cfo-caf/cfo-caf-eng.htm

#2
Canada Firearms centre
RCMP
Suite 400, 10470 152nd Street
Surrey, BC V3R 0Y3
FAX: 604-586-2402

I got this address from the School where I took my Firearms Safety training course.

Thanks!

had a long chat with a CFO and he said that the pile of faxes that they cant read is bigger than the pile they can read, and said best way is registered mail with signature, so all you guys that are waiting might be in the cant read pile....

Once your license shows as "issued" on the CFC website, call the CFC number 1 800 731 4000 and choose the option to apply for an ATT, or you can use extension 9530 for the BC CFO. Explain that your RPAL has just been issued and is in the mail but you would like to apply for your ATT. They'll look up your file and then have you email or fax your range membership to them, request that they email you your ATT, you should have it within a couple of days. Easy and no tracking down an address.

heres one for you all
I have everything in place and this is NOT my first restricted - there slower than slow
initiated Dec 04 - just check 10 mins ago ( Jan 11 ) --- STILL NOT DONE

absolute power corrupts absolutely --- does anyone over see these people or make them accountable ? fire the lot and get someone willing to work and do there job !! other provinces' don’t seem to have as lazy issues

Just got an update from the BC CFO that they were now processing transfers from Dec. 15 and 16. Mine was initiated on Dec. 17 so hoping to have the transfer completed by early next week.

Once again a huge inconsistency. My first restricted, a consignment gun from Wanstall's, initiated December 13th, completed paperwork back at Wanstalls January 8th, gun shipped, received January 10th. Now I wait for the Registration Certificate to arrive by mail so I can take it to the range...

Thanks for the update, work was insane today so I didn't get a chance to call.

Interesting that January 4th they were processing transfers received up to December 5th. January 7th or 8th they processed the ones from December 13th (I know this because mine was completed one of those days) and today, January 11th they are only up to December 15th and 16th. Considering that in 3 or 4 days (if they are working Saturdays and Sundays) they got through 7 or 8 days worth and in the last 4 or 5 days (all business days) they've only gotten through 2 to 3 days worth...hmmmmm
Maybe overtime pay makes them work faster?!

Any tips for me? I am waiting on a PAL/RPAL and I have no need for an ATT yet. Only got an RPAL because I heard it was cheaper to do it all at once and "faster". I am in B.C and their number never works. I hear that I should call regarding an ATT and just get transferred to Alberta but I don't need an ATT. Regardless I am going to try it whenever I have a chance.

Still waiting on my PAL.. Should I call and ask for my ATT and get transferred to Alberta and see if they can help me? Its been just at the BC CFO for like 3 weeks now and was at Miramichi for like 2

Call Mirimichi for your ATT. They will email it to you in 2 days or so. BC office will take weeks.

lol it just doesn't end. Mail lady showed up with the AR. Now I'm waiting for the registration certificate so I can take it to the range.

I'm in the same boat. :p CZ was delivered last Thursday, now I'm waiting for the Registration Certificate.

On the advice of a gunnutz member I attempted to call the BC CFO office today, via the extension number at Miramichi, to request that they email it to me. My call was picked up by someone at the CFC and the guy I talked to claims they don't have a copy of the Certificate, that it's held by the BC CFO, so they couldn't email it. He said all my Registration info. was on my Notice of Transfer, which I have, so naturally I asked him if I could go to the range with just my N of T, he said that it would all depend on the officer if I got pulled over, some would be fine with just the Notice, others not so much. With my luck it would be the "not so much" so I'll wait, once again, for the BC CFO and Canada Post.

So my next question would be, if the BC CFO office has the Certificate and my transfer was completed January 8th, why hasn't it showed up in the mail yet? It's not that far from Surrey to Victoria.

Still no Registration Certificate today. I'm going to call the CFO tomorrow to check on another transfer so will ask if they know when it was mailed. And the frustration continues....

Finally got my transfer approval after close to 5 weeks since initiated. It is now time to wait for my package to show up at our doorstep.

Congrats! Waiting on one that was initiated December 21st, hopefully it will come through in the next week or so. The one that was initiated December 13th came through January 8th and my gun was delivered by good old CP on January 10th. I'm still waiting on the Registration Certificate to show up in the mailbox so I can actually take it to the range.
I can't tell you how tired I am of waiting..... I'm thinking the mail carrier is pretty tired of me ambushing him as well, lol!

Ya, I run out to the mailbox all like :) and keep coming back all :(
I recieved a letter from the CFO yesterday saying they had approved the transfer and that the registration would be soon. I've had the gun for a few days already and it took a few to ship.
