I love the FN FAL. Granted, I've never shot one, and from what I hear from every Canadian soldier I've met who served when the C1 was in service, the FAL/C1 can be a bit of a love/hate gun, but still.

Unfortunately, even though they should, on paper, be non-restricted, they're prohibited. And since my PAL is newish, I don't run a museum and don't work in any of the various careers that might get me access to a prohibited license, I'm SOL for getting any kind of FAL until the laws change.

So, does anybody know of something comparable? Preferably both ascetically and in the size of the round (Doesn't have to be 7.62x51, just close), although I'd like to see anything available that's close.

You really can't go wrong with the M14 platform. Actually that's not true, it would be wrong to only have one. :)

Did you just seriously compare a FN FAL to a Keltec SU16?

Obviously the Kel tec isn't a milspec assault rifle, but for a semi-auto that is aestheticaly similar to the FN its reasonably close. You gonna contribute mlehtovaara, or just hate?

H&K G-3

However I don't know it status here in Canada...we used to buy them here no problem....someone here probably knows...

Comparing the Kel tec to the FN FAL is like comparing a KIA to a BMW..Laugh2
There is no hate here, just use your head a little next time.:)
I think the Ruger 10/22 with the 20 round mag is pretty close the FN FAL also.

Anyways if you really try to find something close then go with the m1a/m305
same round, magazine fed, probably same recoil, semi auto etc.
