With Jack Rabbit season over, I am thinking of following up on the coyote tracks we have seen and going out and hunting coyotes for the first time.
Understand the importance of camoflauge, scent, however need to know which calls people are using and how they are using them to produce coyotes within shooting range.

Many Thanks in adavance.

I use a rabit squeeler, knight and hale. My luck is 50/50 with it. I get as much buisness just ambushing a well used coyote trail at dawn.

With mating season on howls will be usefull too. The primos DVD mastering the Art of Predator Calling is the best I have seen to date for describing the various sounds.

Coyote's have keen sences so you have to take all things into consideration. Sneek into your calling locations, watch the wind, Cross wind is best, onto is OK. always be able to see down wind.

I have been really liking my primos lil' dog It is easy to use and does most all of the sounds you'd want to do. But what call you use (to a certain extent, you will not howel in a fox)) is not nearly as important as stand selection and how you hunt it.

One more thing you are starting a little late in the year so most of the dumb ones are dead, so calling will be a little tougher. When you actually get a response it will be a true rush and yoyu'll be hooked.

Coyote howls, distress pups work the best IMO as they will answer back(howls) and you get an idea of how far the coyote is and what direction he's comming.
Distress rabbits work well is the area is not pressured and they are really hungry.
I believe Feb is the coyote "rut" so try some female invitational calls and the big ole males should come running in:D

Cheers!!
