ready to buy aimpoint m4 and magnifyer

Personally I think you should consider the NF 1-4x24 for that 308 or the new S&B 1-8. they are almost as quick in target acquisition as an aimpoint and you don't have to fiddle with the flip up magnifier. I think you are making a big mistake. the 308 has a lot more range than the aimpoint set up is going to give you, you won't be happy. find a larue qd mount and dedicated variable optic, really

Micro with a 3X magnifier works well on the 5.56.
Interestingly enough, I have just finished a CQB tac carbine course, and when the majority of the shooting is 50 yards and in, I was a lot quicker, and just as accurate, using the Micro alone.
Micro + magnifier on Larue mounts gives perfect co-witness with the irons, and the magnifier is quick to flip in and out of place.
Think Micro, either H-1 or T-1, instead of the much bulkier M4....

One Shot also carries Aimpoint.

I prefer the Aimpoint twistmount to the flip mounts. I'd rather not have the magnifier hanging off the side of the gun when I don't need it. Extra stuff is easier to bang or hang up when doing entries, rapelling, or other stuff (just my opinion, others may have different experiences and results).

But strictly for range use and the occassional course, probably not as much an issue.

I'd agree the Aimpoint Micro's H1/T1 are the way to go. I've had full size aimpoints before, as well as both the H1/T1. The micro's are lighter and smaller and take up less of your field of view. Super tough and the battery last forever.

You might want to check with AbHobbyist on this forum. I got a very good price from him on the Aimpoint magnifier. I am using it in conjunction with an Eotech so I don't know about the Aimpoint optic itself but he might be able to help y you as he often has optics on sale and last I looked he had the Aimpoint 3x with twistoff mount as well as other stuff.

Just a thought. :D

I've used both the M4 and the T-1/H-1.

I prefer the T-1 or H-1 due it's weight, function and capabilities. The M4 seemed overly bulky to me but it is a well designed and solid sight that I would use if I didn't have an H-1. (I got the H-1 because I'll probably never use NVG's again - thanks Abhobbyist! - he had a spare H-1-). The M4 looks cool if you're going for CDI factor.... the T-1 or H-1 ..due to its size shows that you are secure in your masculinity with a small sight. Small sight must mean that you have big cajones!

I borrowed foxbat's Aimpoint magnifier during his course and found it useless for me until beyond 50 yards but for those needing longer range precision, it will fit the bill out to whatever distance the shooter is capable of engaging to.

So, if you are accurate with just the T-1 out to 100m, you should be able to effectively use your T-1 and magnifier out to 250 or 350m or even beyond.:)

I would use it if sitting on containment then would tip it off if an entry arose.

Unlike Wicked, I prefer the Larue tip off mount rather than the twist off mount so that I could get the magnifier into play quicker however, it would be mission dependent. He is absolutely right about it hanging up if rappeling, entering etc... if I was doing an entry into a normal house, business or school, I would take the mount off completely. I'd run it in the great outdoors though. (that being said, unless I return to LE, I won't be doing entries anytime soon except on courses!) ;)

Oh, and One Shot also carries Aimpoint gear.;)

Practise is your friend!

X2 - Bought an Aimpoint M4s from him, fantastic to deal with.

i know its no longer in with the the internet junkies but the m2/3 are fantastic optics to consider as well. the cost savings mean that much more ammo. for almost eveyone on the civilian side the difference is nominal.

M2 and M3 are great pieces of kit too! I've tried both with positive results. They can sometimes be found at a good price too!

But now I drank the T-1/H-1 kool aid.

To go one further, if you want the full size optic, and dont need nv capabilities, the Aimpoint C3 gives even more savings, and is perfectly suited to range and course duties. It also uses the same mounts and other accessories as the M/L 2 and 3 optics.
