REAL AR Gunsmiths

Who is a legitimate AR gunsmith in Canada?

KevinB!

Seriously, it depends how you define "legitimate." If you mean someone in the trade, then I would expect that anyone at TSE, Wolverine, P&D or DLASK would be able to help you out. Really any place that does a brisk trade in AR's and AR parts should be able to help.

If you are looking for someone that is formally trained (ie: Colt factory certifed for SP2 repair) that might be a little harder to find. It wouldn't surprise me if it was the same group of people.

If you've got issues with your AR, then talking about it hear is a great place to start. There's a huge amount of local knowledge, and it may save you a few bucks.

amourer is not a gunsmith!! Amourer put stuff togehter and uses gauges. Gunsmith is qualified to perform modification.

:? Alrighty then - you might really enjoy getting your face ripped off by an armourer after making a comment like that....

An armorer is a far cry from a gunsmith......

I did it! I fixed the problem. The little spring was compressed into the grip and not activating the detent. I switched the lever over to the left side and reinstalled the spring and detent.
Now all is well. AND I know what a detent is.
I can't wait to shoot this thing.
Thanks for all the help. I may build one yet. :D

GT is right - the qualifications for an armourer are no where near those of a gunsmith. That said - I do know several armourers (by trade) who also happen to be gun-smiths...

My mistake GT!! I figured they would have to be trained in all to do!!! What is the point of having an Armorers Course? I thought that I would take one to learn just that!!I guess not!!

I think for this sake it would depend on the Armorer you are talking about. There are probably many different variation of skill from one to the next!!

This way no one goes away mad!!!Cause it makes sense!!
