Real FN SCAR pic (In greentips safe color)

FN's Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle - Heavy.

I have all the crap on PDF but its BIG and wont even go thru the DIN let alone my shaw cable account.

This is what USASOC specifically and USSOCOM as a whole used to kill the XM-8 craptastic POS (despite CF Soldier Systems dreams - it is DEAD).

They specified the SOCOM Dark Earth colour (read: TAN) as the hostile environment finish -- black sticks out (heck our CTS guys figured that out) - but the lightest colour is easiest to go with and darken as necessary (I think they will be out of the SCAR systems in US inventory before the ME is done...)

The one in Clint's pic is the CQB version of the 7.62x51 SCAR-H
One ARSOC guy I know got to shoot them in Belgium and was extremely impressed.

AND unlike the Robinson Arms XCR - it works...

I thought I saw everything FN was making at SHOT Show...

I also thought SCAR was a trial of some kind...not a designation

And 7.62....mmmm......juicy-sweet

the charging handle can be switched to the other side can it not?
Not bad looking piece of kit, I'd own one quite happily. But it does remind me of my nephews super soaker a bit, just a different color is all.

SCAR will receive a Mk designation when it gets adopted (if) I know some have already floated out some varaints #'s down south -- but it is still in developement.

The CH can be swapped - once again - I have no idea how as the only one I saw was a mockup of the L variant.

I want one. KevinB, could you speculate on the recoil for that model? The short 7.62? It would kick like crazy would it not?

Bitterman - not sure - I shot the KAC SR25 Battel Rifle (14.5" 7.62mm NATO) with a KAC can - and it was very controlable.

Expect some chnages to the SCAR system when user trials are complete. It is a USSOC work in progress -- and likely the NEXT US/CF/UK? weapon system 10-15 years out.

Are the mags for the 7.62X51 are new production items or they tried to fit old model onto it?

Cant tell for sure

I'd be interested in having one for sure. Nice to be able to fire 7.62 (not 7.62x39) Black Rifle again. I'm having FAL withdrawl and my M14 isn't quite the same.

Regards,
