Here's a question for all of you who own, or have owned and extensively shot a rifle in .22 Magnum. I do not want to get into a "VS 17HMR debate"..

I can feel a new rifle coming on- and so here's the question: How do you like the caliber, and what real world accuracy groupings can you achieve with it using the gun's favoured ammunition?
Thanks in advance.

With a Marlin 983T scoped @ 100 metres the 22 MAG is very potent, it is a caliber up to 125 metres, here a 10 shots group... JP.

if i just plunk across the hood of the truck in calm conditions i can keep 5 around 1.5-2" at 100yrds. if i really take care and set up i have had under 1" at 100yrds offten. i can tag clay pigeons at 200yrds 4/5.
CZ452 american with 30g Vmax

So is this typical of what a .22Mag will do with decent glass and a good shooter? I can accept 2" at 100 yards.

This is typical. Best I've shot is about 1-1/4" at 100 meters (110 yards) off a rest, 30 gr. Hornady V-max. That's accurate enough for plugging a groundhog, and enough punch too at that range.

I have two 22 mags a bolt and a CZ 512 semi. with the 30vmax and the semi 1 inch at 100 yards all day . With the model 5 Rem. and 40gr CCI maxi mags even better. FS

I would say the accuracy is about average in the 2 22 mags I have...around 1 1/2" at 100 yrds. The problem with this round is that there are not a lot of choices or variety in whats out there so if your rifle doesn't group well with one type, it probably won't do well with any of the few others out there.

I find that lighter the bullet in 22 mag, the harder it is to make good group but if you stay within the 40 gr + you should get MOA, my 983T sure doest it with once in a while a .5 group... JP.

Love 22 mag....owned several. Currently a Browning t-bolt sporter barrel....I haven't tried shooting this one from a bench/bags at 100 yds but it does 3 shots/holes touching @ 75 ish yards leaning against a tree. Good enough for me and killed everything I pointed it at :). I only shoot CCI MaxiMags 40gr HP

I had a savage 93fv and with remington vmax ammo it was one of the most accurate rifles ive owned. I traded it off about 2 years ago, kick my self in the ass.

you could shoot nails in the wood.

.22 wmr is an accurate round.

to compair .17hmr, both seam flat out to some distance. I think this is why the kids are so good with em. They aime right on like in there video games.
