Really old Cooey Model 60

Ya, I think the plan is to clean up the steel a little, run a brush and some patches down the barrel, clean up the bolt, clean up the tube and find a screw and a ladder for the rear site and then just leave it.

The more I look at it, the more I love it. Dad won't be around forever and I still think of him everytime I shoot this gun.

Gonna start looking for a lever action .22 for the wife. Any suggestions?

lever action rifles

I'd be looking for a older winchester 9422 in vg shape. The early ones didn't have checkering. Consider putting in a WTB ad into the Equipment Exchange section.

I have one looks just like that but it dosn't say Model 60 on it.Just Cooey Repeater 22 cal. I came with no stock on it so was able to buy it as a parts gun.

My first rifle was a mod. 60 also. Also have I believe a 75, and an 82. What are the values of these old timers ? $50 each ??

Also, would anyone have a pic of the rear sight of the Mod. 60 ?

the 82's are worth a little more if its the one im thinking of its more or less a target rifle with the big forend

little_airwolf try gun parts corp the cooeys are listed under winchester just google it

Just learned this...

I have one like this...fellow CGN'er (gunsaholic...Cooey aficionado) explained to me that they pre-date the 60. Made between '31-'39.Mine came with a bad stock (most of a bad stock) too...was able to acquire a "period" correct one. Mine needs a touch of inletting...they were hand inletted in the day.

The one I have here has a "rough" bore but, still shoots really well.

i have to add more on the rear sight.
this pic is off an old model 60 it screws on to a dovetailed block.
my other model 60 has a rear sight the same as in the photos in this thread.
my model 600 has the same one.
model 600's were made after winchester bought out cooey.
both 60's are drilled and tapped on the front and rear receiver rings for side scope mounts. the 600 is grooved on the top for top mounts.

Numrich/Gun Parts Corp don't have any elevators in stock. Anyone else?

I guess I'll try a WTB in the WE.

Thanks for all the great info everyone!

Yes, the Cooey repeater predates the model 60. The ones that are marked Cooey Repeater were Cooey's first repeating rifle. Some of them that were marked "special" had rare factory hand checkering.
Values for these old Cooeys varies depending on condition and if still original versus refinished. But most will be $75.00 poor to $150.00 nice. There are some models that are quite rare even for a Cooey and will bring more money; the model 35 pump, the Bisley Sport , the model 62 target rifle or the hand checkered guns being a few of them. The model 82's are also climbing in price, especially the ones that are military marked. These have been selling frequently in the $250.00 area give or take depending on condition.

Found an elevator on here. Got it paid for. Should be on its way shortly. Gonna bust out the steel wool and clean it up and get it all sighted in for spring. I'll look for a lever action for the wife over the winter. just not in the cards right now.
