Just so you know what I'm up to... I'm making a custom built mauser in a k98 laminate stock (all the parts I'm using are spare and loose; no milsurp rifles have been harmed in this experiment). I managed to dig up a double set trigger, kongsberg target barrel, rear k98 low profile sight and standard front sight.

The reason why I've posted in milsurp is because I want to use a swedish mauser sight hood, and I need to know if it will fit my k98 sight.

Really interesting. Good luck with your project.

Swedish Mauser sight hood? That's a new one on me. I've never seen one. Are you talking milsurp or commerial? With a little judicous work, any spring type sight hood can be adapted. The sight base may also require a bit of work, if it isn't correspondingly slotted.

Swedish sight hoods

If you are talking about the Military Surplus round sight hoods for the M96 Swedish Mauser, it probably would work. They just go on and clip behind the front sight to hold it in place. They are a bit springy, and the sides grasp the barrel.

If you are talking about the "Squashed down" sight hood, I would not do it. This is the rare Sniper Rifle sight hood, and is worth about three or four times more than the regular one. A regular one costs $15 to $20.

You are probably going to have to try one for a fit. Some minor work might be required.

BTW..if someone needs help or information, there is no such thing as a stupid question. There are, however, people who will give stupid answers to a question.
