Really true that Alfa Proj 9mm revolver doesn't have to use moon clip?

I saw a Youtube vid on the Alfa Proj in Russian with English Sub. The guy in the vid said that for the 9mm luger version, you don't have to use moon clip and he showed by putting in the ammo one by one. The disadvantage mentioned is that you will have a tougher time taking them out of the cylinder after shooting. So in that case one can still load the revolver with 9mm Luger without moon clip then? That is the only one that I saw saying you don't have to use moon clip. Is there any other 9mm revolver also doesn't need moon clip?

I can fire my Alpha Proj 9261 without a moonclip. The 9mm round will head-space off of the cartridge rim. It's not really practical though, as there is nothing for the ejector star to push against to eject the round, so you would have to poke the spent casings out with a small stick. If you are shooting low powered 9mm ammo, they may fall out of the cylinder if you point the gun upwards, but I found factory ammo and my own 132pf reloads take a little encouragement :)
 
I had a Alfa 9mm for awhile. Like VanMan says they will fire without moonclips but you need pencil or little piece of dowel to poke the spent casings out of the cylinder. Firing 9mm target ammo some would fall out on their own but not all and not everytime.

The ones I had (2 came with the gun, some I bought from Wolverine) were steel and showed no signs of wear or deforming when I sold the revolver. I would imagine they would last a very long time. The downside to them was cost for extra clips (around $10 each) and the fact that they were very hard to find, at least they were when I owned my Alfa.
 
These Alfa Nines are too new for meaningful long term durability comments. But I took a chance as they are Czech built and inexpensive. Pleasantly surprised they shoot so well in terms of handling, feel, fit, reliability (so far) and accuracy.

I will say the moon clilps look durable. They could last a long time because of their design, with the slit between cartridges, they are flexible and easy to unload and load up.

Headspacing on the front of the shell casing seems fine for me at the moment. I only shoot reloads and if it works for reloads, new factory ammo should be totally fine.

I use a small ball tip pen to push out the empties and that works perfect at the range. A BBQ stick works as well.

My moon clips stay unused in the gun case.

Dont know of any other 9mm that will shoot without moonclips
