Reamer Exchange Thread? (Reamer bank) & other tools barrel / action wrenches & vices

Looking for 7.62x54r headspace gauges.
I've re-barreled a nice hex receiver with an M-39 barrel, wanted to verify headspace. Bolt closes nicely on a spent casing.

What would be a fair price to ask for reamer rent to do one chamber? Do folks normally take a deposit for a rental? I am looking for a 30-30 reamer and I am seeing quite a few inquiries for one. So I am thinking I might buy one and put it out to rent after I get done with it.

Your question is difficult to answer.

A new reamer cost appx $250+ by the time it's delivered. If the chambering jobs are done properly in normal steels used for making barrels carbon/stainless, you get anywhere from 6-10 chambers cut, before the reamer needs to be sharpened.

If one of the renters "DROPS" the reamer on the floor, doesn't lube it properly during feeding, feeds to fast, etc, that reamer can be buggered to the point of not being repairable by regrinding to minimum spec. Like any other sharpened cutting instrument, they get dull.

There are very few people that I will lend a reamer to and I would never rent one out nor rent one for my own use. I would rather purchase used/new.

I've seen reground reamers where the angles have been altered to the point that they won't chamber a factory cartridge.

If you can rent a reamer for under $75, that would be fair IMHO.

I sold my Blueing system kit and am now left with box of buffing and polishing supplies. 20 plus wheels mostly 10" a few 8" . Stitched and loose musslen. Sisel and 2 felt wheels plus a cleaning brick and a cleaning rake a hand full of arbor adaptors and flanges. All are new unused from Brownells currant catalog price is $550.00 USD. I will sell for half price. Also have 5 tubes of Brownells Polish-O-Ray,grits from 140 to 500 this is old stuff but has been continually refrigerated but may not be any good but will through in . Knife makers may have use for this as well

Thanks bearhunter
That is the kind of Info I am looking for

Divide the cost of the reamer by 8 then double it, add shipping.

I will never loan or rent a reamer to someone I don't know personally. People just don't know how to use a reamer properly and when they come back, flutes will be dull, chipped or otherwise marred. I even got one back with the bore follower sleeve missing.

That's why you double the cost. It's insurance as well as payment for time.

One fellow I know triples the factor and won't budge.

You can purchase reamers out of Ukraine at reasonable prices, say $100US
