Dovetail insert style.
What is the easiest way to install and set up sights when
re-installing a rear sight on a rifle?
I have the, "get it back in the dovetail" figured out.......
But this bore sighting thing I don't think is going to work?
Clamp the rifle in a vise and look down the bore to a dot on the wall and
then tap tap tap?

I usually just eyeball the center of the barrel then shoot at a target to see where I am hitting. I set the target at around 25 yards in case I am way off and miss a farther away target.

Yeah, if you don't have a bore sighter put the gun in a gun vise or clamp it by other means and look through the bore at a point/target 25 yards away. Adjust/tap the sight for windage (and elevation if possible) as needed. Test shoot @ 25 yards and fine tune.
