New to the AR game and need some direction on what I will need for a rear flip up BUIS for this CQ-A.

I will not be using the carry handle with the rear sight. I want to use the Strikefire that came with the firearm and will be retaining the factory gas block/front sight. I have it set up using absolute co witness if that helps or makes a difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

The world is your oyster on this. It all depends on what you are willing to spend. Magpul BUIS are decent enough. The Zahal ones aren't bad for the price either.

I was able to pick up a Magpul Pro from Tactical Products Canada at a very fair price. At first glance, it seems to fit the bill. I will be getting some range time with it this weekend to set it up.

I was able able to squeeze in some range time with the new sight. It performed as expected. The A2 however proved to be the weak link. It is so far out of sinc that windage on the rear had to be set almost to end of adjustment. This was confirmed with the red dot, whose battery expired in the frigid temps leaving me with only irons to continue shooting with. I guess buis do have their place in life.

Having said this, I have come to the inevitable conclusion that a front BUIS is in order, which means that I will require a low profile gas block. I guess that means I will need a new railed forend, 12" should work...awww damn, might as well grab a new muzzle device while I am at it.

And so it begins. lol

This really isn't that unusual for iron sights. As long as it's zeroed what's the problem?

Good luck with removing the FSB on the CQ-A!!!!!!! They are notoriously hard to take off... I know guys who just cut them down!!!!!!!! There are tons of threads on tricks to help, so do a bit of research.

Have fun!

I went with a Magpul BUIS rear on my CQA and it co witnesses with my Strikefire.

To be honest, I find that big ol' A2 sight being in my field of view to be quite annoying.

I have owned this firearm for a short period of time, have not competed with it yet and have only put 1,000 rounds through it but I am starting to discover little things that need to be tweaked. This being one of them.
