Rear peep sight options for Martini Enfield ACIII Arty Carbine Greener Conv.

I have a Martini Enfield 303 Artillery Carbine converted to 22 by Mr Greener. It has a Lyman front sight, and has holes drilled into the receiver for a rear sight - but what rear sight?

The holes are about 13.5mm apart, about 1 inch down from the highest part of the receiver, and a cm forward of the buttstock wrist.

Any ideas are welcome as to what sight was there, or options for something else (maybe a wood-mounted flip up peep sight).

On a custom conversion like that it could have been anything.
Maybe a side mount meant for a lever gun was installed or a rail for an Olympic style Redfield.

My brother's first target rifle was a Martini Cadet, Dad drilled and tapped it for Redfield Olympics.
I still have that rifle downstairs.
