Instead of rice or popcorn I stuff my sock with airsoft pellets.

I have the badger bone. It's ok. I find I stack it on a sock full of sand and use both. The sock gets rock hard. The airsoft pellets sound better

i made one out of a old cloth bag that some lead shot came in, cut it shorter and filled it with some river washed pebbles for a fish tank

it works for me, i don't like using rice in case it gets wet.
