This is my first Enfield and she is a real beauty. It came with a scope mount and scope but I thing I would rather have open sights for it. I think the #4's had a rear peep sight but this one has been removed. Are these rear sights hard to come by/expensive or should I consider getting a rear express style sight installed? Any and all opinions welcome, not sure where I'm going to go with this rifle.

Nice rifle. Looks like the rear of the receiver is intact (little hard to tell on my laptop screen) so you just need the bits.

You have several options, they come up on the EE and fleabay fairly regularly. All the bits shown in the picture shown here ht tp://www.armslist.com/posts/3384...ale--lee-enfield-no-4-mk1-complete-rear-sight and you're good to go!

(Not sure if it's ok to reference/post a link to an old Armslist add so remove the space between the t's and it will work)

I'd install the correct Parker Hale scope bases, either BB20/21 or BA20/21 depending on ring selection. Rear base has a fixed ghost sight that will handle most close in shooting. This way you can shoot with open sights and scope at anytime in the future. Ron

From the pictures shown, it looks to me like all you need is a plunger, plunger spring, hinge pin, hinge pin pin and the adjustable sight. Reasonably cheap in the milsurp EE. Takes less than 5 minutes to install with a set of needle nose pliers. Could easily show you a picture of what you are looking for if you want.

This ^ . I'd only add that you buy a milled ( machined ) rear sight instead of a stamped version . Nice rifle by the way , I had one until recently . A very good friend of mine needed it more than I did . I'm currently looking for another , but I found a nice Churchill M-17 sporter first , so many rifles , so little time .

I just noticed , it looks to be a Long Branch No 4 Mark 2 . Exactly like my old one . You couldn't own a more iconic Canadian hunting rifle ...... great , now I want my old one back . Dibs if you sell it , just kidding , you should hang on to that one .

If you decide to sell the scope mount , I would be interested. LB rear sight shouldn't be hard to find, just put an add up on the EE..they come and go. Nice PH, I have one like yours, only difference, mine has the rear bolt release, very nice bush rifle....great to carry.
Cheers

I think I would prefer to keep it with rifle sights, the mount I have here seems solid but just doesn't seem right to scope it.

10-4, thanks for the info!

I gave it a lot of thought for my first Enfield, wanted something to hunt and plink with but also have some class to it as well and not just another bubba sporter.

Thanks she a real nice example, the bluing on the barrel is near perfect and the stock is still in reasonably good shape. I will keep you in mind once I have the sights all sorted and see if I will keep her with just rifle sights.

Regards

Brian
