Rear Site Attchment

I have a Ruger P85 and the dovetail rear site has come lose and falls out.

What is normally used to secure these types of rear sites in the dovetail notch? Locktight? Or is it just a pressure fit?

Any help appreciated!

It's usually just an interference fit, try making a couple of light punch marks in the bottom of the dovetail in the slide. Just enough to raise the metal slightly around the marks and try re-installing the sight again.

If it is still too loose then re-punch a little harder and test again until it feels right.

If it falls out again, I'ld do the punch mark trick to the bottom of the sight, not the slide. I always like to do it to the cheapest part. If you screw up the notch in the slide, a slide is a lot more expensive to replace than a sight.....
