Can anybody tell me how to remove the rear site on an AR180B, It sits a little too high for me to properly mount a scope on the MI rail without going to a riser or really high rings
I believe it is a dovetail fit, but I have gently tapped on it and it will not budge, don't want to get the big hammer out ! Not sure if it slides back or forward to pull away from the dovetail
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

You could be right, limited info on it, may have to go the higher rings, I'll look a little harder and see if I can see a spot weld under the receiver, certainly do not want to destroy it
I put a 1 in riser on I had floating around just for a pic, but way too high

It is definitely spot welded on and is easily removed. However, if you remove the rear site, what is your scope base going to push against to stay on?

Use some common sense.

Removed the sight from one of these a while back. Used a mill. Left enough of the sight housing to provide a shoulder for the scope base plunger to press against.

Removing it is permanent so you may want to think this through carefully before you do it. As stated you need it for the scope mount to push against and the factory sights are pretty good considering it isn't a sniper rifle and won't be winning any long range competitions. I would just mount your scope higher. I had one (which I wish I never sold) and it was fine with the scope mounted up high enough to clear the sight.
I actually preferred mine without a scope though as it is so light without it.

Enjoy.

I agree, I think I will leave it as is, ( It is actually my brothers ) and use a riser, you're right not a sniper.

Thanks for all the input !!!
