Bought this off an older gentleman said the stock was custom made it was originally a 358 Norma mag but has since been re-barrelled to 7mm rem mag wondering what I have here as far as values go I payed 1000$ the barrel is supposedly unfired. The action has had less than five rounds through it. I bought it as a moose rifle but it seems too nice to be strapped to my atv.

Look forward to hearing from you.

It looks to be fine Brno model 21H with a new stock and new barrel. Beautiful rifle, and certainly not an "RTV gun". I can't give you an idea of value, but without question, it's worth more than $1000. I highly doubt that it came originally chambered for 358 Norma mag (and it's small-ring 98!). The original calibres were:

6.5x57
7x57
7x64
8x57
8x60

You can't go wrong with 7mm-08.

So, let me see if I got this straight... if a tasteful stock change and a new barrel is a bubba job, there are countless rifles in ownership worth peanuts?
When a barrel wears out or somebody wants to change calibres, their rifle becomes bubba status? I don't think so.
I guess in the end, things are worth what people are willing to pay.

How much work had to be done inside to turn it from it's original Euro chambering to 7RM? If the work was done well and there are no glaring issues that could effect safety then there is nothing wrong with paying $1000 for it. Rebarrelled rifles don't always fetch much money because the build is always some other guy's idea of perfect. What does it weigh all up? if it's light it might not be a lot of fun to shoot.

I have an idea of what a bubba-ed rifle looks like, and this isn't it. I doubt you could have a stock like that built for much south of $700, that said custom rifles seldom sell at a price that reflects their true value. IMHO, that Brno deserves better than a Bushnell, that's like putting $50 tires on a Mercedes.

An original Brno is a $1000 rifle, none of the changes made to this one increase its value.

Okay, so I WON"T say it's bubba'd, since my gut tells me it's not, but if that bolt face and extractor only ever saw five rounds I'm a monkey's uncle...

It is too nice to be strapped to an ATV, by far, in my books.

Some guys would pay $1k for it, but since some shopping around can get a guy a Brno 600 for around $500 - $600, I would not be one of those guys.

I think a Brno 600 that sold for $500 would be pretty beat, particularly if it had a pop-up peep sight, but the action should be worth that. I think $700-$900 is more like it for a factory rifle in nice shape. The OP's rifle is a M-21H, so is a bit more desirable to the enthusiast, than a 600. As I said though, custom rifles typically don't sell for prices that reflect their value.

Where would I find the model number on the action also are dual triggers common on these rifles? Also on another note the barrel is marked s holsman did a Google search on it and came up empty anyone ever hear of it?

Btw if that kind of checkering is bubba I'll let him work on anyone of my guns!

Beautiful Rifle/Stock. Be proud. May have been a few more rounds than seller admitted, but who cares, new barrel installed in a great Moose Caliber. 7MMRem Mag is on my list.

I would say that 7mm Rem Mag is the VERY upper pressure limit for a model 21 small-ring M98-type action.

In the end, "value" and "going price" are too very different things. The market place is very weird. The good news is that there are many SUPERIOR customized, semi-custom, and full-on custom rifles on the market that were PROPERLY built that often go for a song--keeping the smart and discerning buyers satisfied and happy. Then there is the factory mass-produced crap going for too much money that keep the not-so-discerning buyers satisfied and happy. Thankfully, my tastes have matured and I can always find a quality bargain. Enjoy that rifle. The Brno model 21 is considered the very best lightweight factory sporter ever made--largely due to that fine action and sweet shotgun style trigger guard. The stock is not as important (the originals were often quite bland), and a new barrel is an added plus (assuming it was properly indexed and headspaced and nicely blued).

If that rifle were mine, I would replace the bolt for a conventional Mauser 98 unit with a cut and turned down handle (saving the original of course), add a nice low-scope aftermarket right-side safety, a nice Timney trigger, and I would have model 21 iron sights and barrel band installed (if you can find them). Of course, that is a lot of money, and your rifle in its current form is still a fine piece! Definitely put a nice Leupold on her and toss that airgun scope.
